Project Independence: What Happens After High School
Project Independence provides 2 strands of six 2-1/2 hour trainings and an all-day college visit to parents/caregivers of children and young adults with disabilities. The trainings occur during a week night from 6:00pm – 8:30pm with the first half-hour for dinner and the remaining 2 hours for training. One strand are for youth ages 14-21 years old and the other strand are for parents. The purpose of this project is for parents to understand their child’s educational, developmental and transitional needs; and for youth to have the ability to self-advocate and discover what they would like to do after leaving high school.
