Dispelling a Myth of Medicaid
Runtime: 1:01

Misconception

There’s often a misconception of Medicaid and a stigma that goes along with being on Medicaid, which is that this program isn’t for me. I shouldn’t be accessing Medicaid services.

Distinction

It’s really important to understand the distinct difference between some aspects of Medicaid which are for low-income adults, for children, for pregnant women, to make sure they get medical services. But there’s also a very distinct group and funding source for people that have long-term support needs. So if you or a loved one has a disability, these funds are there to support you.

Design

There’s nothing wrong with accepting this funding support. You’re not taking it away from anyone else. It’s what the program is designed to provide and support at a federal and state level.
