Thank you to our amazing family caregivers!

We are honored to celebrate National Family Caregivers Month. Celebrated each November, this month celebrates the constant efforts made by those caring for parents, children, siblings, and other relatives across the country. This month is a time to raise awareness about family caregiving and to support and encourage the family caregivers who work hard day in and day out for their loved ones.

PASCO would like to thank our family caregivers for the hard work, love, and care they provide to their loved ones each day. From our founding in 1992, PASCO has been built around and raised up by the tireless dedication of our family caregivers. You are the heart and soul of everything we do to support our PASCO family every day. We know that families provide the best, most informed care for their loved ones. You know every habit, quirk, and preference their loved one possesses that only a family member could recognize. The work you do is irreplaceable and we cannot thank you enough.

Family caregivers are the backbone of our Nation’s long-term care system, doing essential work with devotion, often at great emotional and financial cost. We owe them. It is time to bring their service out of the shadows and celebrate and support them in living their own happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

Care for the Caregiver™

The work of a family caregiver never stops. Day-to-day tasks, errands, financial management, and more also contribute to the daily life of someone caring for their loved one. PASCO is proud to provide the support, benefits, and Medicaid expertise to allow you to focus on what matters most – caring for both you and your loved one. We understand that sometimes it is all too easy to give your all to your loved one and leave your own well-being as an afterthought. It is important to prioritize your own health to best support your family. We would like to share a few tips for positive self-care:

  • You are not alone in this – give yourself permission to ask for help.
  • Connect with like-minded people – join a supportive group in person or online.
  • Find supportive resources – look online or contact PASCO for a list based on your individual needs.
  • Your needs are important – it’s okay to say no to requests that are too physically or emotionally draining. Self-advocacy is key!
  • Find the humor – laughter helps blow off steam and decreases stress hormones.
  • Employ self-compassion – don’t be so hard on yourself and realize how valuable you are.
  • Make time to focus on YOU – pamper yourself, take a break, stay active, make goals. You deserve to take time for yourself.

PASCO is here to help. Please do not hesitate to reach out for resources, support, or guidance on how we can be the best advocate and partner possible for you and your loved ones.

The Fight Continues

Both locally and nationally, we continue to advocate for expanded, improved home health services that allow for independence for more Americans. We believe that every family caregiver deserves to be compensated for the hard work they do and for every individual with disabilities to have the choice to receive care in the comfort of their own homes. We are currently advocating for the Latonya Reeves Freedom Act on a national level in a fight for expanded home and community-based services that would benefit countless individuals.
