Our Story
The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver was started by Kelly Curnalia in 2012 with a mission to provide support to children and their families meaningfully. By profession, Kelly was a licensed clinical social worker who immensely emphasized helping people come out of traumatic emotional turmoil. Before founding the center, Kelly was involved with The Butterfly Program-the only pediatric palliative care program in Colorado-that provided the same tender service to children toward the end of their lives. She was supposed to assess children for admission into the program offering psychological and medical care to those of terminal diagnoses. However, due to the lack of resources, it had to deny many children because of strict medical criteria, which left so many families without much-needed support after a frightening diagnosis.
In 2024, The Child and Family Therapy Center of Denver partnered with PASCO, combining strengths to better serve families across Colorado. By pooling resources and expertise, the two organizations will be able to expand the services offered to children and families in need. This partnership symbolizes a commitment to bridging gaps in care and ensuring that families facing life-limiting diagnoses or emotional challenges have access to the support they deserve. PASCO and The Therapy Center are working together to create a brighter future for Colorado families.
