Help PASCO fight to retain your Appendix K benefits!
As part of the Public Health Emergency, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) allowed family caregivers to temporarily provide certain services they were previously unable to provide. This temporary provision is known as Appendix K.
Did you know that as part of the Public Health Emergency, CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) allowed Colorado Home and Community-Based Services agencies to temporarily allow payment for specific services rendered by family caregivers or legally responsible individuals who would not have been eligible otherwise?
The experience over the last two years proved that when family/legal guardians deliver these services they enrich the lives of the individual and the community.
Some of the services included in this approval (known as Appendix K) and their corresponding waiver are:
- Community Connector (CES)
- Homemaker (SCI), (EBD), (CMHS), (BI)
- Homemaker Enhanced (CES)
- Personal Care (SCI), (EBD), (CMHS), (BI), (SLS)
We are working with State Representatives and Policymakers to ensure these needed services can be retained after the public health emergency ends and we need your help.
If you are a family caregiver completing modified services due to Appendix K, please share your story about how these changes have helped your loved ones thrive during these unprecedented times.
Potential Appendix K modified services:
- CES waiver – parent or guardian providing community connector or homemaker-enhanced services
- EBD waiver – parent or guardian providing homemaker services
